Bull Mastiffs originated in the United kingdom and are said to be sixty percent Mastiff, and forty percent Bulldog. The breed was developed for the purpose of hunting and immobilizing poachers.

The Bull Mastiff is a massive and powerful breed.They have a wrinkled facial appearance, with a dark muzzle. The have a rough short coat. Colors can include fawn, brindle, or red, and sometimes black marking are seen on the head. Occasionally white is seen on chest area. This breed is known to snore and drool.

Courageous and loyal, the Bull Mastiff makes a great companion. Very good with kids, and has a natural protective instinct. They thrive on companionship and will prefer to be with the family rather than be outside. Because of their natural instinct to be protective and wary of strangers, they should be socialized early to prevent an over protective behavior. This dog is not likely to attack a person, but rather hold them in position. This breed may not get along with other dogs. They can be ok with other pets if socialized early.

Can do ok in an apartment if they receive adequate amounts of exercise. These dogs do not like extreme temperatures.

Bull Mastiffs shed very little hair. Regular brushing with a firm bristle brush is recommended. Bathe only when necessary.
